The recovery partition is a hidden area of the disk not visible in normal use of Windows, which allows the ability to store and/or backup OS images locally for later recovery. It also contains the SquareOne OS Recovery application.
The recovery partition is also needed to use most of the functionality of the SquareOne OS Management application.
Creating the Recovery Partition
To create a recovery partition with the SquareOne OS Recovery application pre-installed, either:
- Run the SquareOne OS Management application on the existing Windows system and choose Create Recovery Partition (see SquareOne OS Management)
…or…
- Deploy a captured OS image via a created USB Stick (see SquareOne OS Recovery USB Stick and SquareOne OS Recovery Tool), choosing Deploy (with recovery)
Booting from the Recovery Partition
Once configured, it is possible to boot into the recovery partition to access the SquareOne OS Recovery application.
Hold shift while pressing restart and then select Use another Operating System from the displayed options, then UEFI - Recover Operating System from the options that follow.
This option will boot into the SquareOne OS Recovery application.
