The SquareOne Recovery Tool is a bootable USB key that can be used to:
- Capture Windows Images from an existing device
- Deploy Images (both with and without the Recovery Partition, creating it if needed)
Note: Booting from the USB key may require holding a suitable key (often F8 or F10) as the target device boots (see Booting from USB Recovery Key).
To create a SquareOne USB Recovery Key, insert a USB memory stick (at least 1Gb in size) into a PC and run RecoveryStick.exe. Note that the creation of the USB Recovery Tool will delete all other data on the USB stick.
If the stick is intended to contain the captured image (.WIM file) then it will need to have enough free space to allow for this. The format type should also be NTFS as WIM files are frequently larger that the 4Gb limit allowed in FAT32.
